Addressing the multitude at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha yesterday, Lowassa outlined his priorities that includes strengthening of the union.
“The best approach to fight poverty is through education. Employment among the youth whether selfemployed or hired can contribute to economic growth. The community must be enabled to contribute to the national economy for the nation to reduce foreign dependence,” Lowassa said.
He said predecessors President Jakaya Kikwete, Benjamin Mkapa, Ally Hassan Mwinyi and the founding Father, the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere accomplished a commendable job making good contribution to the welfare of the nation but there was still room to make improvement on what has already been achieved.
“In 1995 Mwalimu Kambarage Nyerere made it clear that people of Tanzania wanted positive changes and if they will not get that through CCM then they may be subjected to seek alternatives through the opposition camp,” said Mr Lowassa, insisting that he was out to bring the changes that the country needs but through a reliable party, the ruling one.
“I am not here to campaign, only asking for support from CCM Members and Tanzanians as whole that when the time comes they should consider me for the presidency, I am only expressing interest to rule the country, otherwise the final decision remains with the Chama Cha Mapinduzi leadership and Tanzanians as whole,” he said.
Mr Lowassa said once he becomes president his priority would be education and technological development being the only tools in fighting poverty.
“I hate the state of poverty, I want each and every Tanzanian to become better off financially and lead good life and this will also be among my top most mission,” he declared.
Veteran Politician, Kingunge Ngombale-Mwiru said a good leader can be spotted miles away and CCM will ensure that the party’s candidate for the 2015 General Elections is the one that most people can recognize and admit he will lead the country to MR Lowassa the Promised Land.
